Our Story

I've always loved dogs. From a young age I was fascinated by animal care and nutrition, and I've always believed that feeding fresh, natural ingredients is one of the best ways to support a happy, healthy life.

That passion grew even stronger when I kept and showed guinea pigs. I loved learning about their nutritional needs and creating fresh, natural diets to help them thrive. Looking back, that's probably where my love of creating food for animals really began.

In 2021, I started my first pet business, making handmade dog bandanas. My goal was to save enough to buy a dog of my own. Although that business came to an unexpected end after I was forced out of my local market, my passion for dogs and creating products for them never disappeared.

Now, everything has come together at just the right time.

As I'm preparing to move into a new home where I'll finally be able to welcome a dog into my life, I realised there was also a gap locally for natural, handmade dog treats. It felt like the perfect opportunity to turn a long-held passion into something new.

I love creating food—whether it's for family, friends or animals—and developing recipes has become one of my favourite parts of this journey. Every Twig & Toad treat is carefully made in small batches using thoughtfully selected ingredients, with the aim of creating delicious treats that dogs love and owners can feel good about giving.

People often ask where the name came from. Twig is the name of my Dungeons & Dragons character, while Toad is the name I've already chosen for the dog I can't wait to bring home. Together, they represent imagination, adventure and the exciting new chapter that inspired this business.
